Job summary

City of Chicago is seeking a City Planner V in the Department of Housing, Bureau of Housing Development. The role entails professional urban planning, coordinating projects related to development and revitalization of residential, commercial, and industrial areas.

Starting salary is $85,368.00 per year. Working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, at 121 N LaSalle Street. This is a career service position with opportunities for additional vacancies pending budget approval.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with five years of planning work experience.
• Master's degree with four years of planning work experience.
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning surveys, studies, and reports detailing trends and resources.
• Evaluate development proposals for conformity with city goals and regulations.
• Prepare project summaries for City Council review.
• Coordinate with city departments and consultants on major planning studies.
• Prepare grant proposals and preliminary budgets for planning projects.
• Lead data collection and reporting for planning initiatives.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Transportation Planning, Environmental Planning, or related field
