Job summary

The City of Philadelphia Law Department is seeking to hire an attorney with five or more years of litigation experience as a Deputy City Solicitor in the Code & Public Nuisance Litigation Unit. The attorney will bring affirmative litigation for violations of the Philadelphia Code and may appear before the Board of Licenses and Inspection Review, Tax Review Board, and the ZBA.

This on-site position requires managing a large caseload, preparing and presenting cases in the Philadelphia Court

Qualifications

• Five+ years of litigation experience relevant to public enforcement or municipal matters.
• Excellent research and drafting skills, with ability to argue before tribunals.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work onsite five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Advise and represent the City before government agencies and in legal matters.
• Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute in code enforcement litigation.
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex regulatory issues.
• Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and appeals as needed.
• Negotiate settlements and manage administrative functions of practice.
