Job summary

The City of Philadelphia Law Department is hiring a Deputy City Solicitor for the Code & Public Nuisance Litigation Unit. The attorney will lead affirmative litigation for Philadelphia Code violations in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and related boards, handle appeals, and defend or sue as needed.

Strong litigation, research, and advocacy skills are required. Minimum five years of relevant experience, a law degree from an ABA-accredited school, and Pennsylvania bar admission or reciprocity

Qualifications

Five or more years of litigation experience.
Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Candidate must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for reciprocity to practice in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

Advise and represent the City of Philadelphia and its employees before government agencies and in legal matters.
Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in code enforcement litigation.
Prepare and file legal documents and pleadings in statutory appeals.
Negotiate settlements and manage a high-volume caseload.
