Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) in Honolulu, HI seeks a Senior Cisco Network Engineer to design, implement, and support a large-scale network infrastructure across multiple enclaves with varying security classifications. You will act as SME for Cisco IOS, Firepower, ACI, ISE, and related technologies while guiding projects with minimal oversight.

The role requires security clearance, DoD experience, and proficiency with SPLUNK, ACAS, F5, Palo Alto, VMware NSX, and ServiceNow.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• IAW DoD 8140.03-M Intermediate Proficiency Level.
• Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAT-II certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP.
• Must have a current Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) certification.
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
• At least 5 years of DoD network engineering experience or 8 years total of network engineering experience.
• Must have experience managing Cisco Routers and Switches.
• Must have experience managing Cisco firewalls – Firepower, Cisco ACI and ISE, Palo Alto.
• Must have experience utilizing SPLUNK, ACAS, WhatsUpGold.
• Must have experience managing F5 and supporting VMware NSX.
• Significant experience using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office tools.
• Must be able to carry 40 pounds due to installations and work occasional after-hours/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, update, and secure network environments using Cisco products (IOS, routers, Layer 2 and Access Layer switches, ISE, Firepower, ACI).
• Manage other critical components: F5, Palo Alto, VMware NSX, SPLUNK and ServiceNow.
• Lead projects with minimal oversight and ensure devices/apps are patched, secure, and operational.
• Perform STIG validations (DISA) and monitor security posture with ACAS.
• Collaborate with developers to create workflows within ServiceNow.
• Configure and reconfigure network applications; maintain LAN/WAN environments and network security.
• Process IT service requests and troubleshoot tickets.
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and SOPs; manage lifecycle of devices and provide monthly COR TA status reports.
• Occasional after-hours/weekend support for outages.
