Job summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to lead design and implementation of secure, scalable enterprise networks that support clinical and business operations. You will mentor engineers, drive modernization initiatives, and ensure reliability and resilience while collaborating with Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Client Services.

This role requires expert Cisco routing/switching, network automation, and strong leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field or relevant experience.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible network engineering experience in a complex enterprise environment.
• 7+ years experience as a technical escalation resource, leading significant network changes and mentoring engineers.
• 7+ years advanced hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise routing and switching, IP addressing, routing protocols, network segmentation, high availability, Cisco ACI and datacenter networking.
• 7+ years advanced working knowledge of wireless networking, VPN connectivity, DNS and DHCP dependencies, and network security principles.
• 7+ years experience developing and maintaining network automation through IaC, scripting, and APIs.
• 7+ years experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and maintains enterprise Cisco network services.
• Provides hands-on technical guidance and reviews designs and implementation plans.
• Leads technical diagnosis of complex network incidents and drives remediation.
• Develops and maintains reusable automation for provisioning, configuration, validation, and inventory.
• Designs and supports Azure and AWS networking for cloud connectivity.
• Leads network implementations, upgrades, and migrations with proper change procedures.
• Maintains network diagrams, standards, and inventory; evaluates lifecycle risks and options.
• Addresses vulnerabilities in coordination with Information Security and ensures secure connectivity for clinical systems.
