Tiello LLC in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, seeks a Senior Chiller Technician to support large-tonnage commercial HVAC equipment for diverse customer facilities. You will perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, with strong emphasis on electrical and controls troubleshooting, theory, and hands-on repairs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience with large-tonnage chillers.
• Strong experience troubleshooting air-cooled and/or water-cooled chillers.
• Advanced understanding of refrigeration cycles, compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, and hydronic systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to read control circuits and diagrams.
• Excellent communication with customers and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, service, and repair of commercial chiller systems.
• Diagnose and repair air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, including centrifugal and screw equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and controls-related issues.
• Perform factory-authorized startup and warranty work on represented HVAC equipment.
• Inspect operating conditions, identify performance issues, and recommend corrective action.
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to maximize reliability.
• Diagnose electronic controllers, sensors, VFDs, safeties, and control components.
• Coordinate with manufacturers and factory support on complex issues.
• Assist with warranty claims, parts replacement, and documentation.
• Support large service projects with subcontractors, equipment, materials, scheduling, and customer coordination.
• Provide technical guidance to developing service technicians.

Tiello has partnered with a rapidly growing commercial HVAC equipment and building solutions provider seeking an experienced Senior Chiller Technician to support customers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

This is a highly technical field position focused on large-tonnage commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, equipment startups, commissioning, warranty service, and advanced troubleshooting. The Senior Chiller Technician will serve as a trusted technical resource for customers, contractors, manufacturers, and internal service personnel while supporting some of the most complex HVAC systems in the market.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned chiller professional who can independently diagnose difficult mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues and enjoys being the person others call when a system isn`t operating the way it should.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, service, and repair of commercial chiller systems
• Diagnose and repair air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, including centrifugal and screw equipment
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and controls-related issues
• Perform factory-authorized startup and warranty work on represented HVAC equipment
• Inspect operating conditions, identify performance issues, and recommend corrective action
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to maximize reliability and system performance
• Diagnose electronic controllers, sensors, VFDs, safeties, communication issues, and related control components
• Support controller upgrades and equipment optimization initiatives
• Coordinate directly with manufacturers and factory technical support on complex equipment issues
• Assist with warranty claims, replacement parts, and technical documentation
• Support large service projects involving subcontractors, equipment, materials, scheduling, and customer coordination
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developing service technicians
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair options clearly to owners, contractors, engineers, and facility personnel
• Complete detailed service reports and required documentation accurately and on time
• Participate in OEM and factory training to maintain advanced knowledge of equipment and emerging technologies
• Support national account projects and occasional travel as needed

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience, with significant hands-on experience servicing large-tonnage chillers
• Strong experience troubleshooting air-cooled and/or water-cooled chiller systems
• Advanced understanding of refrigeration cycles, compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, hydronic systems, and associated HVAC equipment
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose motors, starters, VFDs, sensors, safeties, and control circuits
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation
• Ability to independently diagnose complex equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective action
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC safety practices and proper service procedures
• Valid driver`s license and clean driving record
• Strong customer-facing communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of service calls from diagnosis through resolution

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with centrifugal and screw chillers
• OEM experience with manufacturers such as Trane, Carrier, York/Johnson Controls, Daikin, Smardt, or similar
• Experience performing factory startups and commissioning
• Experience with magnetic-bearing or oil-free chiller technology
• Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and equipment controls
• Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or similar communication protocols
• Experience working with MCS or comparable equipment controllers
• EPA Universal Certification
• OEM or factory certifications highly preferred

Physical & Work Environment Expectations

• Regular travel to commercial and industrial customer facilities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth market
• Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, equipment yards, and active commercial facilities
• Ability to safely lift and handle tools, parts, and service equipment
• Ability to climb ladders and access mechanical equipment as required
• Occasional travel outside the DFW market for national account projects, specialized startups, or factory training
