Job summary

Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) in New York City seeks a Placement Specialist Supervisor to lead a Child Welfare unit, ensuring coverage and effective placement for children in foster care. The role requires strong supervisory ability and profound knowledge of placement practices.

You will review cases, guide staff, conduct trainings, and ensure timely evaluations while using multiple agency databases and systems to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and 30 semester credits toward a Master of Social Work or related graduate degree, and at least eighteen months of child welfare casework experience.
• Must have child welfare experience.
• Familiarity with databases and case management systems such as WMS, CCRS, PTS, ACRS +, Connections, Vacancy Control, CPR, Docushare.

Responsibilities

• Ensure sufficient coverage of the assigned unit at all times.
• Review and assess cases to determine children’s placement needs.
• Direct child welfare specialists in best practice to access placement.
• Review placement efforts to ensure compliance with best practices.
• Conduct unit meetings and meetings with individual workers.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to improve performance.
• Conduct training when necessary.
• Ensure timely evaluations and provide detailed justifications for ratings.
• Maintain records of time and leave and submit on CityTime.
• Attend supervisory meetings as required.
• Utilize Placement Module, PTS, WMS, LTS, CCRS, CAS+, Connections, Docushare and e-mail.
