Job summary

Department of Children and Families in Deland, FL is seeking a Child Protective Investigator Supervisor - SES to lead and mentor a team of investigators and support staff. You will allocate workloads, guide investigations of alleged abuse or neglect, and ensure quality documentation.

This SES role requires strong leadership, training, and compliance with federal and state rules. You will develop performance standards, coach staff, review casework, and coordinate with partners to protect children

Qualifications

• Criteria 1: High school diploma or GED; four years of law enforcement or active military service; minimum 2 years of Child Welfare experience; Florida Child Welfare Certification; valid driver license; private vehicle for daily work.
• Criteria 2: AA degree or 60+ credits and two years professional work experience (or two years law enforcement/military) with qualifying examples.
• Criteria 3: Bachelor’s degree (in social work or related field) and minimum 2 years of Child Welfare experience; Florida Certification Board credentials; valid driver license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, plan and direct workloads, timelines and objectives of investigators and staff in protecting children and conducting investigations.
• Develop performance standards and conduct regular reviews; provide coaching and recognition for outstanding work.
• Review casework, safety plans and assessments; ensure documentation is complete and compliant with regulations.
• Use information systems to monitor open cases and manage workflow; prevent backlog and ensure timely actions.
• Promote staff training and cross-training in differential investigative skills.
• Establish cooperative relationships with community partners and other agencies involved in child protective investigations.
