The Florida Department of Children and Families seeks a Child Protective Investigator in DeLand to conduct investigations of abuse/neglect and assess child safety. You will interview children, families, and neighbors, determine danger threats, and arrange emergency placements when needed.

Qualified candidates hold a high school diploma or GED (or higher) and experience in law enforcement or related fields; the job may require night/weekend hours and a valid driver license.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED plus four years of law enforcement or active military service.
• Associate degree or 60+ credit hours with two years of professional work experience or two years of law enforcement or active military service.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Official college transcripts or copy of diploma must be provided within 30 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children.
• Collect information through observation and interviews with children, parents, relatives and neighbors.
• Assess danger threats, vulnerabilities, and caregiver capacities to determine safety.
• Arrange emergency placement for a child who cannot safely remain at home.
• Notify state attorney, law enforcement and child protection teams.
• Provide families with service linkages to agency and community resources.
• Conduct initial/ongoing child present and impending danger assessments.
• Report indications of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
