Job summary
Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer with substantial experience in child protection to join the children and families legal section. You will manage complex public children law cases and conduct your own advocacy, while mentoring a team of lawyers and support staff.
Fluent English is essential, with rights to conduct litigation for England and Wales. A generous benefits package includes the Local Government Pension Scheme and flexible working options.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with a current practising certificate and rights to conduct litigation for England and Wales.
- Significant post-qualification experience in children's law with a proven track record of handling complex proceedings.
- Excellent advocacy skills and the ability to present cases persuasively at all court levels.
- A commitment to mentoring and developing others, fostering a culture of learning and best practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of public children law matters, including non-accidental injury and chronic neglect.
- Conduct own advocacy and represent clients in court.
- Mentor and develop junior colleagues within a supportive team.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and external partners.
