Job summary

Department of Children and Families in Florida seeks a Senior Child Protective Investigator to conduct investigations of alleged abuse and neglect, interview families and witnesses, and develop safety plans. The role involves coordinating with legal services, law enforcement and community resources to protect children.

You will maintain detailed case files, prepare reports, and provide testimony in court, while upholding state policies and ADA compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of child welfare experience with 1 year in investigations.
• Current Florida Child Welfare Certification from the Florida Certification Board

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations regarding abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children.
• Collect information through interviews with children, parents, relatives, neighbors, and other parties.
• Engage families, identify needs and determine intervention level, provide services linkages and case plan recommendations.
• Conduct initial/ongoing Present and Impending Danger assessments.
• Develop with the family a signed Present Danger Plan and safety plan.
• Arrange emergency placement for any child unable to safely stay at home.
• Notify state attorney, law enforcement, and other required individuals as appropriate.
• Prepare reports and provide testimony in court; maintain thorough documentation in client records.
