Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families is seeking a Senior Child Protective Investigator in Ocala to protect children and investigate alleged abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This professional role emphasizes collaboration with families, law enforcement, and community partners to ensure safety and proper service linkage.

You will collect information through interviews, develop case and safety plans, prepare documentation for court, and maintain thorough records.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent AND 4 years of law enforcement or active military service.
• Minimum 1.5 years/18 months (post provisional certification) of Child Welfare Experience, preferred in Child Protective Investigations.
• Current/Active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board.
• Must be trained and practicing Florida's Safety Practice method.
• Valid Driver License and must possess an operational private vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Protect children by conducting investigations of alleged abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
• Collect information via interviews with children, families, and others involved.
• Develop case plans and safety plans with families and arrange services as needed.
• Prepare reports and testimony for court and coordinate with agencies.
• Maintain thorough documentation and report to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
