Job summary

Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Senior Child Care Worker at the Alice C. Tyler Village of Childhelp in Lignum, Virginia to supervise at‑risk youth in a psychiatric residential treatment setting.

You will provide for physical, personal and health needs, document behaviors, support educational and social activities, and collaborate with staff to meet each youth's treatment plan; you will be looked to as a leader within the cottage.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year experience in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility.
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around‑the‑clock supervision of at‑risk youth.
• Attend to physical, personal and health needs and support skill development.
• Monitor and document behaviors and activities and participate in activities.
• Collaborate with staff to meet each youth's treatment plan and lead within the cottage.

Childhelp is a psychiatric residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children aged 5-14 with mild to severe trauma or neglect, psychiatric disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our unique location on a 270-acre farm provides a nurturing treatment setting with a variety of therapy resources. Pay: Starting at $21 an hour and negotiable based on education and experience.

What you will do: Senior Child Care Workers provide safety and around-the-clock supervision of at-risk youth at a residential treatment facility. In this role, you will provide for the physical, personal and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and behavioral/social/physical and educational skill development. Senior Child Care Workers provide an atmosphere that is supportive of the youth’s needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities; and participate and assist with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities. You will collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan. You will be looked at as a leader within the cottage from the youth and from other Child Care Workers.

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 1-year experience in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and TB test.

Schedule: Work week will be 5 eight hours shifts including weekends, holidays and rotating on call assignments. Shift times are 6:30am-2:30pm or 2:00pm-10:00pm.
