Job summary

Weeks Marine, Inc. seeks a Senior Chief Engineer to oversee the engine room aboard the hopper dredge (RB Weeks or Magdalen). You will lead the Engine Department, manage maintenance and repairs, and ensure U.S. Coast Guard and ABS compliance.

Expect a 21 days on / 21 days off rotation, living aboard, and readiness to travel as required. Strong mechanical aptitude and leadership are essential for safe, reliable dredging operations.

Qualifications

• USCG License – Chief Engineer, Unlimited HP required.
• 8+ years of marine engineering experience, including licensed engineer roles on oceangoing/coastwise vessels.
• TWIC credential.
• Ability to live aboard for a 21 days on / 21 days off rotation.
• Willingness to travel as needed between home and vessel.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises the Engine Department (First Assistant Engineer, watch engineers, oilers) to ensure safety, operation and production.
• Defines priorities for engine department work and maintains the Preventative Maintenance program.
• Ensures SMS compliance and timely maintenance, including major repairs.
• Maintains vessel condition to meet ABS/USCG classification and company regulations.
• Provides leadership and serves as senior technical authority in the engine room.
