Job summary

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or MS with 3+ years laboratory experience.
• Strong analytical experience with HPLC, NMR, IR and mass spectrometry.
• Proficiency with literature and database searching.
• Strong problem-solving skills with autonomy and sound judgment.
• Ability to work in laboratory and production environments with PPE.

Job description

• Lead development of oligonucleotide chemistry for customer applications and portfolio expansion.
• Plan and safely execute moderate-to-high complexity laboratory projects using literature, experimentation, and data interpretation to solve chemical problems.
• Advance technologies from laboratory development through scale-up, pilot work, and manufacturing, translating technical criteria into manufacturing procedures and process parameters.
• Manage development projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout scale-up and commercialization.
• Communicate laboratory results through clear technical reports and presentations.
• Apply Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement tools to analyze data and establish commercial process/design parameters.
• Participate in continuous improvement, problem-solving, safety, and productivity initiatives.
• Follow all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Support training, mentoring, and assessment of team members while taking ownership of individual development.
• Exercise independent technical judgment while working within overall project direction.
• Work safely in laboratory and production environments and use required PPE.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or Chemistry, or M.S. with 3+ years of laboratory experience.
• Strong analytical experience with HPLC, NMR, IR, and Mass Spectroscopy.
• Proficiency with technical literature and database searching.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise autonomy and sound technical judgment.
• Ability to work in laboratory and production environments, including required PPE and movement throughout production areas such as climbing ladders.
