About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cheminformatician to join their innovative research and development department in Randburg . This role is central to leveraging computational approaches to accelerate drug discovery and chemical research. You will develop and apply cheminformatics tools and databases, analyze chemical structures and properties, and collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and biologists. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain cheminformatics databases and software tools.
- Perform virtual screening, structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis, and property predictions.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists to design novel compounds with desired properties.
- Analyze large chemical datasets to identify trends, patterns, and potential leads.
- Integrate cheminformatics approaches with other data types (e.g., genomics, proteomics).
- Ensure the quality and integrity of chemical data used in computational modeling.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cheminformatics, with a strong understanding of chemical structures and properties.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python) and cheminformatics toolkits (e.g., RDKit, OpenBabel).
- Experience with QSAR modeling, molecular docking, and virtual screening techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex chemical problems into computational solutions.
