Job summary

Kennametal Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Chemical Process Operator III for a 12‑hour day shift to run furnaces and monitor critical process parameters. You will troubleshoot issues, maintain vacuum systems, and ensure safe operation with rigorous adherence to procedures.

The role requires handling chemicals and gases, conducting preventative maintenance, and collecting quality data. A strong safety mindset and ability to work in a high-temperature environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Understand oral and written procedures and instructions.
• Is able to use 30X scope.
• Ability to use a personal computer and various software such as SAP MII, locate information in QMS, and on the Kennametal Intranet for Procedures and work instructions.
• Is able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
• Possess mechanical skills to rebuild and replace furnace components as needed.
• Is able to read and understand operating procedures, defect criteria and routing information.
• Knowledge and ability to perform necessary actions in emergency situations, such as gas leaks.
• Proficiency reached through on the job training in twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload the furnaces and monitor computerized controls for temperatures, pressures, and gas flow.
• Perform operation of furnaces and maintain vacuum systems, including leak checks and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot furnace problems and rebuild or replace components as needed.
• Ensure adequate gas/chemical levels and set up product separation.
• Enter quality data by furnace and heat results and monitor graph results.
• Act as Emergency Responder within the Coating Department.
