Job summary

Actalent in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead process engineering projects from concept through construction for industrial chemical facilities. You will develop PFDs, P&IDs, calculations, and equipment specifications while collaborating with multi-discipline teams across locations and with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required for licensure.
• PE license in Chemical Engineering or active progress toward PE licensure.
• 10+ years of process engineering experience.
• Experience developing PFDs and P&IDs.
• Proven ability to perform and review detailed process calculations and equipment sizing.
• Experience with process equipment specifications and procurement support.
• Experience working in or with industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of codes and chemical storage requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering studies and prepare technical reports communication.
• Perform and review detailed engineering calculations for design and sizing.
• Develop, review, and update PFDs and P&IDs for processes.
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and installation.
• Provide engineering oversight and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
• Coordinate with multi‑discipline teams across locations.
• Assist in bid packages and technical scopes of work for contractors.
• Conduct field work to validate designs and support construction.
• Support client-facing discussions and technical questions.
• Apply building codes and chemical storage requirements to designs.
• Incorporate utility systems and distribution needs into designs.
• Support projects involving industrial wastewater treatment when applicable.
• Mentor team members and contribute to internal training.
