Job summary

Altman Air Conditioning – Service is seeking a seasoned service technician to diagnose, repair, and overhaul centrifugal chillers and support multi-site facilities in the Lake Park, FL area.

The role emphasizes hands-on overhaul work, component replacements, and collaboration with project teams and customers. A QA‑driven approach with EPA 608 compliance, Florida HVAC licensing, and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining centrifugal chillers.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, sequence of operations, and manufacturer service literature.
• Florida HVAC or Mechanical Contractor experience preferred; able to work under a licensed contractor.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and overhaul centrifugal chillers including Trane, Carrier, York/Johnson Controls, Daikin, and similar manufacturers.
• Perform major component replacements including compressors, motors, gears, bearings, seals, oil pumps, purge units, and heat exchangers.
• Conduct refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak testing per EPA Section 608.
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, starters, VFDs, sensors, and BAS interfaces related to chiller operation.
• Perform oil analysis, vibration analysis, eddy‑current testing coordination, and performance evaluations.
• Execute annual and multi‑year planned maintenance programs.
• Document work clearly including service reports, findings, recommendations, and parts used.
• Coordinate with project managers, controls technicians, and customers on job status and recommendations.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to service technicians as needed.
