Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a skilled Plant Operator to support the central energy plant in San Antonio, TX. Under general supervision, you will ensure efficient generation of steam and chilled water and oversee water treatment, safety, and records.

You will forecast energy loads, adjust equipment, and supervise preventive maintenance while mentoring junior staff. The role requires strong problem solving, independent work, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of utility distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of HVAC, steam and chilled water systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute operational and maintenance strategies for assigned shift.
• Forecast load for chilled water and steam based on season, time of day, and weather.
• Adjusts, starts, and stops plant equipment to maintain efficient energy production.
