Job summary

SoCoCAA is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Head Cook in preparing meals for the Senior Center program. The role involves assisting with menu planning, food preparation, serving, and post-meal cleanup.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of cook/assistant cook experience, is able to lift 50 pounds, and is committed to working with seniors. CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certification within 45 days are required, with local residency preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physically able to lift 50 pounds.
• 1 year experience as a Cook or Assistant Cook.
• Desire to work with the elderly; geriatric knowledge preferred.
• Familiarity with Southern Ute Indian Reservation; local residents preferred.
• Able to pass criminal history background check and drug test.
• CPR and First Aid certification within 45 days; Food Handler certification within 45 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Cook with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.
• Support menu development and monthly cycle planning.
• Assist with ordering and inventory control to ensure cost efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
• Ensure foods are at proper temperatures and monitor waste.
• Attend required trainings and maintain confidentiality.
