Job summary

Skagit Council on Aging is seeking a Senior Center Coordinator to manage daily operations at the senior center in the Greater Seattle Area. The role includes scheduling activities, coordinating meal services, welcoming participants, and maintaining accurate intake and records for the Meals on Wheels program.

You will work with staff and volunteers to run social and wellness programs, answer inquiries, and uphold a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in community services or nonprofit program coordination, preferably with older adults.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication for engaging seniors, families, volunteers, and partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Basic computer skills: email, word processing, spreadsheets; comfortable learning new systems.

Role Description

The Senior Center Coordinator is a 30-40hours a week, on-site role located in the Greater Seattle Area, serving senior community members at designated centers. This position oversees daily operations of the senior center, including scheduling activities, coordinating meal services, and welcoming participants and visitors. The Coordinator works closely with staff and volunteers to support the Meals on Wheels program, manage participant intake, and maintain accurate records. Daily responsibilities include organizing social and wellness programs, handling phone and in-person inquiries, monitoring facility cleanliness and safety, and ensuring a positive, inclusive environment. The role also involves collaborating with community partners, assisting with outreach and basic reporting, and supporting fundraising or special events as needed.


Qualifications


  • Experience in community services, social services, or nonprofit program coordination, preferably working with older adults.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including scheduling, record-keeping, and basic data entry.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging respectfully with seniors, families, volunteers, and partners.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond calmly to changing needs, and maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment.

  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and spreadsheets; comfort learning new systems or databases.

  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and nondiscriminatory service delivery.

  • Experience coordinating volunteers or leading small teams is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of or interest in nutrition, aging services, or Meals on Wheels-type programs is a plus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in human services, social work, or related fields preferred.
