Job summary

The Town of Brookline seeks a dependable Building Custodian to support daily operations at the Brookline Senior Center and ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for older adults and visitors.

Responsibilities include opening the building, event setup, maintaining cleanliness, minor repairs, and reporting major issues. The ideal candidate can lift up to 60 pounds and follow written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; experience in custodial or maintenance work.

Responsibilities

Open and secure the building daily and ensure all areas are prepared for use.
Set up and break down furniture, equipment, coffee, and food for programs and events.
Maintain cleanliness of all interior spaces, including washing windows and walls, mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, and disposing of trash and recycling.
Change light bulbs, perform minor repairs, and report major issues to the Building Department.
Monitor building systems to ensure proper operation, including checking boiler gauges, heating, ventilation, and elevator functionality.
Maintain inventories, order supplies, prepare work orders, and keep accurate records.
Contact police or fire departments in emergencies.
Perform related tasks and additional duties as assigned.
