Job summary

As a Cell Design Engineer on the Slurry & Coating team, you will drive experiments, design optimization, and data-driven decisions to accelerate the development of commercial battery products.

You will collaborate across technical teams and with external partners, apply advanced analytics, and help deploy next-gen battery solutions while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Strong background in lithium-ion batteries and related process steps (slurry, coating, cell design, teardown).
• Data-driven problem solving with experimental design and curiosity.
• Proficiency with databases and data analysis tools such as JMP and Python.
• Excellent communication with internal teams and external customers; Korean/Japanese fluency is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Lab safety awareness.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in engineering or sciences; 2–4 years in batteries or related field, or PhD with university experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead joint development partnerships by facilitating technical meetings and delivering data packages on schedule.
• Develop and execute experiments in small and prototype full cells across slurry, coating, electrolyte optimization, cell design and integration, and test methods.
• Perform thorough failure analysis in small pouch full and prototype cells to identify root causes.
• Apply data analysis, statistics, and modeling to interpret results and guide design iterations.
• Communicate ideas, plans and results to internal stakeholders and support data package prep for customers.
• Accelerate learning cycles by developing new techniques or methods to detect downstream challenges early.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams at Sila and with external customers as needed.
• Invest in and uphold Sila values and vision.
