Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior CEI Project Engineer for our Transportation Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) program in Central Florida (Orlando). You will direct highly complex inspection programs, plan and organize staff work, and review policies and procedures to ensure conformance with standards.

Responsibilities include leading a project team, coordinating with contractors, managing meetings and submittals, reviewing RFIs and pay apps, and ensuring quality and schedule compliance.

Qualifications

• MS in Civil Engineering or related discipline (may be substituted for 1 year of experience).
• PE license required; strong communication skills essential.
• 10 years of related construction experience including estimating, bidding, purchasing, scheduling, and field engineering.
• Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based collaboration tools.

• Serve as primary liaison with contractors on behalf of the client/owner as part of a CEI team.
• Lead a project team responsible for contract administration and construction materials testing.
• Manage day-to-day activities: progress meetings, submittal/RFI reviews, pay applications, QA testing and inspection, schedule updates, progress reporting.
• Coordinate with designers to resolve technical/engineering issues.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education

MS in Civil Engineering

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Professional Engineer (PE) license

Experience with MS Office, Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software

HDR is seeking a Senior CEI Project Engineer for our Transportation Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) program in Central Florida (Orlando) to direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection programs, plan and organise the work of subordinate and staff members, develop and/or review policies, methods, practices, and procedures, and review programs for conformance with department standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the overall management and successful delivery of multi-million dollarprojects
• Acting as the primary liaison with contractor(s) on behalf of the client/owner, as part of a CEI team representing the owner
• Leading a project team consisting of project controllers and inspectors responsible for contract administration andconstruction materials testing
• Managing day-to-day activities such as progress meetings, submittal and RFI reviews, contractor pay applications, quality assurance testing and inspection, schedule reviews, and progress reporting
• Coordinating with designers to resolve technical/engineering issues
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• FDOT Advanced MOT
• Quality Control experience

Highway and Bridge experience

• MS in Civil Engineering or related discipline (may be substituted for one year of engineering experience)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
• 10 years related experience in various aspects of construction including estimating, bidding, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software
• Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
