Volkert Inc. in Tennessee is seeking an experienced CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region with sites in Memphis, Brentwood, and Nashville. You will perform field inspections for contract compliance and assist with testings and documentation.

The role emphasizes safety, daily reporting, coordination with contractors, and adherence to TN EPSC standards, with opportunities to contribute to quality engineering projects and career growth within Volkert’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
• Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
• Test materials; review plans; analyze engineering data; and perform construction survey/layout.
• Maintain daily diaries on project operations and resolve constructability issues to mitigate delays.
• Monitor contractor operations and review test reports for conformance to specifications.
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations and data entry.
• Advise supervisor on contract adjustments to improve safety, delivery, and quality.

We are currently searching for an experienced CEI Inspector to support our Gulf Region located in Memphis, Brentwood, and Nashville, TN.

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Testing of materials; review of plans; analysis of engineering‑related data; and construction survey/layout
• Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to contractor’s progress
• Monitoring contractor’s daily operations and performing and/or reviewing test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual provisions. Also monitoring utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
• Documenting pay records, performing construction calculations, and computer/iPad entry
• Anticipating contractual problems and advising supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
• Ensuring compliance with TN EPSC standards, and that all work performed in permitted areas is done in accordance with the permits
• Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while maximizing progress of the projects
• Performing acceptance testing of materials in a laboratory environment and inputting test results into various computer databases
