Job summary

Mead & Hunt in South Carolina seeks a senior CE&I leader to grow our transportation construction practice. This is not a traditional project engineer role; it requires leadership, DOT insight, and the ability to guide field teams, coordinate with contractors and agency partners, and credibly shape active projects and pursuits.

Based in Lexington, SC with projects across the state, you will oversee construction engineering, inspection, documentation, and closeout, while supporting future pursuits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university plus at least eight years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• Experience leading or managing DOT transportation construction projects.
• Experience overseeing contractors, inspection teams, subconsultants, project documentation, materials compliance, and construction administration.
• Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, interchange, interstate widening, or related transportation construction projects.
• Ability to work from South Carolina project locations as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for project and pursuit needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction engineering and inspection for SCDOT projects supporting our Lexington, SC office and locations across South Carolina.
• Oversee construction administration, inspection teams, contractor coordination, documentation, materials compliance, quality, schedule, issue resolution and closeout.
• Support future pursuits and proposal efforts, helping Mead & Hunt position the right teams, technical approach, and key personnel for upcoming transportation work across South Carolina.
