Job summary

Google Public Sector is seeking a Senior Systems Development Engineer to support Cross Domain Solution (CDS) systems at scale from our Reston, VA location. The role emphasizes automating toil, observability, and secure cross-domain integration while partnering with security teams and government partners.

The ideal candidate holds a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, a CS/IT degree or equivalent, and at least 5 years in infrastructure, Linux/Unix, and scripting. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with technical infrastructure (deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting).
• 5 years of experience in Linux or Unix.
• 5 years of experience in scripting or automation using Python, Shell or Go.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support for Cross Domain Solution (CDS) systems, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and patch management.
• Collaborate with security and operations teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Design, implement, and maintain CDS architectures, ensuring compliance with government and industry security standards.
• Develop and integrate hardware and software components to enable secure cross-domain communication.
• Work with security assessment teams to ensure systems meet required security certifications and accreditation.
• Document designs, configurations, and processes to ensure system maintainability and knowledge sharing.
