Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Senior Catastrophe Risk Modeling Analyst to join our Reinsurance team. You will provide catastrophe modeling and exposure management for Latin America, with collaboration across US and international segments.

Hybrid work requires three office days weekly in multiple US locations including Chicago, IL. You will work with underwriting, IT, and risk teams to deliver insights, validate data, and support risk assessment initiatives while mentoring others and contributing to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in P&C insurance or reinsurance.
• Fluent in SQL; working knowledge of Python.
• Advanced Excel skills; VBA experience preferred.
• Experience with AIR models and AnalyzeRe platform preferred.
• Solid understanding of catastrophe modeling concepts and database structures.
• Working knowledge of Spanish; fluency preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to senior leadership.
• Demonstrated interest in leadership development with a willingness to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Serve as catastrophe modeling domain expert and business partner for Latin America portfolio.
• Deliver catastrophe modeling and analytical support for Latin America property treaties.
• Review and validate broker and client submission data; resolve data/modeling queries.
• Maintain outreach with underwriting teams to understand business needs.
• Develop and implement reporting and data solutions for exposure management.
• Support catastrophe event response efforts.
• Collaborate with underwriting and IT to improve exposure capture processes.
• Contribute to the company’s view of catastrophe risk and roll up reviews.
• Work with Enterprise Risk Management on modeling deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to streamline data capture and modeling with AI/automation.
• Communicate modeling insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Contribute to retrocession planning.
