American Family Insurance seeks a Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst to lead catastrophe risk analyses, translate model results into actionable insights, and partner with cross‑functional teams to support strategic decisions.

This hybrid role reports to a CAT Risk Senior Manager and requires residing within 35–50 miles of Madison, WI or Boston, MA, with at least 10 office days per month.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience preferred.
• Experience with programming languages like R or Python.
• Experience providing customer-driven solutions or service.
• Solid experience with catastrophe management software and models.
• Knowledge of natural catastrophe risk and insurance applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages for data analysis.
• Strong geospatial software and data understanding.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Experience handling large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Experience with project management methodologies.

Responsabilités

• Performs catastrophe modeling analyses using catastrophe modeling software for data input, model set-up, execution, and loss analytics.
• Communicates model fundamentals including Hazard, Vulnerability and Financial components to peers.
• Develops analytics tools, reports, and data to understand impacts of natural disasters on the enterprise.
• Explores natural hazard data to support exposure dashboard, product, pricing and underwriting.
• Assists preparing rate filings and DOI object responses.
• Develops automation to monitor catastrophe peril events in the United States daily.
• Evaluates catastrophe software and models; researches industry best practices.
• Partners with team members to provide catastrophe insights and recommendations.
• Participates in tool selection and research process design, and brainstorming new opportunities.
