GenStar currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Casualty Underwriter - GenStar based in our New York City office. This is a hybrid role.

Role Description

The Senior Underwriter performs a wide array of underwriting and marketing functions, demonstrating knowledge and competence in both client relationship management and technical underwriting skills. Responsibilities include:

1. Underwriting Analysis: Researching and analyzing complex risks and exposures, applying knowledge of rates, forms, pricing structures, and terms and conditions in primary and excess casualty lines. Collaborating with team members to manage risk submissions efficiently and effectively.
2. Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying new prospects, and creating strategies to expand opportunities. Engaging with clients at management levels and providing creative solutions.
3. Learning/Development: Enhancing industry knowledge through seminars, courses (e.g., CPCU, ASLI), and continuous learning initiatives.
4. Related Activities: Supporting underwriting and marketing projects, developing new products, training, and participating in client events.

Role Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of five years of commercial liability underwriting experience within the surplus lines marketplace; eight or more years preferred.
• Undergraduate degree.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Proven client relationship management skills.
• Enthusiastic team player and self-starter with industry knowledge.

Salary Range

$106,000.00 - $178,000.00 USD annually. This range varies based on credentials, experience, location, and performance.
