Job summary

Sompo seeks a Senior Casualty Claims Specialist to manage a diverse auto and GL claims portfolio with strong technical and legal judgment. You will handle coverage analyses, reserve setting, and strategy development while coordinating with underwriters and external counsel.

The role requires 7–10 years in technical claims or defense, JD preferred, and travel for mediations. You will work across multiple offices and contribute to a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

BA/BS degree required; Juris Doctor preferred.
Insurance designations CPCU, IIA, or SCLA are a plus.
7–10 years in a technical insurance claims role or defense law.
Ability to assess coverage, reserving, and exposure with mediation.
Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and travel for mediations.

Responsibilities

Manage casualty claims portfolio with bodily injury, property damage, and coverage issues.
Conduct coverage and exposure analysis, establish reserves, identify severity issues.
Communicate developments with management, underwriters, and stakeholders.
Oversee counsel and execute strategies to control expenses and resolve matters.
Maintain accurate claim documentation, diaries, and portfolio trends.
Support renewals, endorsements drafting, negotiations, and knowledge sharing.
