Job summary

Sompo, a global insurer, seeks a Sr. Casualty Claims Counsel to join the US Casualty Claims team. The role may be based at any US Sompo office location, with collaboration fostering long-term careers.

You will handle complex casualty claims, requiring a Juris Doctorate and 5+ years in an insurance claims role; CPCU/IIA/SCLA a plus. Travel may be involved. Salary range $125,000–$175,000 with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate is required; prior insurance carrier experience is preferred.
• 5+ years in an insurance-related technical claims position.
• Designations such as CPCU, IIA, SCLA are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct handle primary & excess Casualty claims involving emerging risks, potential long-term exposure, or significant coverage issues.
• Apply and demonstrate strong technical knowledge, legal insights, accuracy, and responsiveness on claim files with a high degree of customer service.
• Analyze liability, damage, and coverage issues, develop successful litigation and resolution strategies, establish appropriate reserves on files.
• Timely identify and elevate potential large losses and communicate effectively with internal and external business partners.
