Job summary

Sompo is seeking a Sr. Casualty Claims Counsel to join the US Casualty Claims team. The role supports primary and excess casualty claims with emphasis on coverage, emerging risk, and long-term exposure. JD required with 5+ years in insurance claims; CPCU or similar designations are a plus.

This position may be based out of any US Sompo office location, with a collaborative environment designed to develop long-lasting careers. Travel may be required as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• 5+ years in insurance-related technical claims with focus on coverage issues.

Responsibilities

• Directly handle primary & excess Casualty claims with emerging risks or long-term exposure.
• Apply technical knowledge, legal insights, accuracy, and responsiveness on claim files with high customer service.
• Analyze liability, damage, and coverage issues; develop resolution strategies and establish appropriate reserves.
• Timely identify and elevate potential large losses and communicate with internal and external partners.
