The New York Department of Financial Services seeks an experienced actuary to supervise and review actuarial work related to pricing, solvency, and market conduct for casualty insurers operating in New York State.

The role requires five CAS exams, a bachelor’s degree or higher, and at least five years of actuarial experience in regulatory or reserving activities. The position is based in New York City with potential adjustments where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Successful completion of five Casualty Actuarial Society examinations.
• Five years of actuarial experience in one or more of the following activities: actuarial or statistical work for operating units or management; governmental regulatory actuarial functions; or actuarial computations for reserves, premium rates, and/or policy forms.

Responsabilités

• Supervise, review, or assist in the review of actuarial issues related to pricing, solvency, and market conduct of casualty insurers in New York State.
• Evaluate liability for outstanding losses and loss adjustment expense reserves.
• Test insurer reserving practices and develop rating standards.
• Lead actuarial ratemaking, conduct internal rate reviews, and provide advisory on actuarial issues.
