Job summary

BigLift Shipping B.V., a Spliethoff Group company, seeks a Cargo Superintendent to oversee global heavy lift and heavy transport cargo operations on board vessels. The role requires a nautical/technical background and extensive marine operational experience.

You will lead, coordinate, and report on cargo activities with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and client communication across diverse projects worldwide, with a proactive, team-driven approach.

Qualifications

• Senior nautical or technical background required.
• Extensive experience with marine operations in heavy lift/transport.
• Proven ability to delegate and coordinate complex activities.
• Strong leadership and clear communication skills.
• Team-oriented mindset and collaboration skills.
• Safety-conscious expert able to manage complex projects.
• Understanding of environmental aspects in marine operations.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, precise, and efficient execution of cargo operations on vessels worldwide.
• Coordinate load planning, stowage, lifting, lashing, ballast, and manuals.
• Prepare stability, acceleration, sea fastening analyses, and ISM-aligned procedures.
• Serve as on-site client contact for cargo operations and report as required.
• Update stowage plans based on actual on-board conditions.
• Maintain communication with vessels, agents, and clients with required cargo information.
• Conduct port, vessel, and cargo surveys as needed.
