Job summary

MRSGNA in Schaumburg, IL is seeking an experienced Complex Cargo Claim Manager to investigate, evaluate, and settle high-value cargo damage claims. You will review bills of lading, shipping manifests, and policy details to determine coverage and liability, and manage complex claims end-to-end.

The role leads complex investigations, negotiates settlements, and collaborates with surveyors, legal counsel, and internal teams to ensure timely processing and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of cargo insurance claims handling.
• Strong understanding of: Insurance policy language, shipping regulations, industry practices.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex claims and determine liability.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage a large caseload effectively.
• Strong attention to detail, written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow day-to-day operations of the claims department and ensure claims are processed within client and company guidelines.
• Claim Investigation - thoroughly review documents, interview relevant parties, analyze loss reports to verify validity.
• Loss Evaluation - determine cause, assign liability, calculate total claim amounts, explore subrogation opportunities.
• Claim Resolution - negotiate settlements, authorize payments within limits, prepare detailed reports.
