Job summary

Onslow House in Jacksonville, NC seeks a compassionate Resident Transporter to safely move residents to medical appointments and activities. You will assist with boarding and exiting vehicles, maintain clean vehicles, and coordinate schedules with staff to ensure timely travel.

The role emphasizes safety, clear communication, and empathy for the elderly. Training is provided for operating passenger vehicles, and prior experience in transportation, healthcare, or customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
• Previous transportation, healthcare, or customer service experience is preferred.
• Ability to safely operate a passenger transport vehicle (training provided).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.
• Ability to assist residents with mobility needs, including wheelchairs and walkers.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments, social outings, and other activities as directed.
• Assist residents during boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
• Keep company vehicles clean, fueled, and properly maintained; report issues to management.
• Coordinate transportation schedules and plan efficient routes with staff and residents.
• Follow traffic laws, safety regulations, and facility protocols to ensure safe travel for residents.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and report incidents or concerns to staff.
• Engage with residents in a friendly and professional manner to provide a positive transportation experience.
