Job summary

Westminster Communities of Florida is seeking a Pharmacist with LTC management experience to oversee medication use in Life Plan Communities and affiliated facilities. You will evaluate orders, coordinate with physicians and staff, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role requires leadership, strong communication with residents and teams, and proficiency in Word and Excel. Weekend or night shifts may be included and familiarity with HIPAA is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Doctorate.
• 1-5 years LTC Pharmacy Management experience.
• Current, unrestricted licensure in the state of practice.
• Knowledge of current state and federal pharmacy regulations with regard to LTC pharmacy services.
• IV clinical experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Good human relation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm, positive attitude and professional manner.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Problem Solving Skills and Critical Thinking Skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, route of administration and stability.
• Maintains patient/resident database with current medical history and medications; reconciling controlled substances with inventory and prescriptions dispensed.
• Collaborates with Pharmacy Manager to implement cost containment strategies on dispensing and procurement activities.
• Provides clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions from staff and customers.
• Documents all communications with physicians, nurses, and patients in the medical record.
• Obtains and maintains required documentation per federal/state regulations and Westminster policy.
• Implements policies for safe procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of drugs and biologicals.
• Assists staff with safe and effective procedures for procuring, maintaining, administering and disposing of drugs.
• Interacts with facilities, physicians and staff to promote teamwork and professionalism.
• Communicates with residents, families, staff, and government agencies.
• Prepares various management reports as requested.
• Schedule may include weekend and/or nights.
• Complies with HIPAA regulations.
