Job summary

San Joaquin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an experienced Cook to join our Dietary Services team. You will prepare meals following physician orders, approved menus, and established food safety standards to support our residents’ nutritional needs and well-being.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure exceptional resident care.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of cooking experience in healthcare or long-term care.
ServSafe certification required or ability to obtain.
Knowledge of PCC preferred.
Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

Prepare meals per approved menus and dietary instructions.
Cook large quantities while ensuring quality and consistency.
Follow portion controls and therapeutic diet requirements.
Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
Assist with meal service and resident dining experience.
Monitor food temperatures for safety and sanitation.
