In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook assists with the daily operation of the kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently while maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare nutritious, appetizing meals according to approved menus and standardized recipesCook a variety of foods in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistencyFollow portion control guidelines and therapeutic diet requirementsPrepare modified and pureed diets accuratelyRecord and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety complianceMaintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areaClean cooking equipment, serving carts, and workstationsMaintain proper sanitizer solutions and food safety standards throughout each shiftAssist with meal service and resident dining experienceEnsure all cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures are completedReport resident concerns or safety issues to the Administrator or Director of NursingAssist with orientation and ongoing training of dietary staffWork collaboratively with nursing and other departments to provide exceptional resident careAssist in supervising kitchen operations during the absence of the Dietary SupervisorPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum one (1) year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care facility preferredLicenses & CertificationsServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain and maintain certificationKnowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferredMust remain in good standing with the Department of Public HealthSkills & AbilitiesAbility to read and follow recipes and therapeutic diet instructionsKnowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practicesExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication and customer service skillsAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentPhysical RequirementsFrequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shiftAbility to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to safely operate commercial kitchen equipmentFrequent use of hands and arms for food preparation and kitchen dutiesAbility to work in a warm kitchen environment while maintaining productivity and safetyWhy Join San Joaquin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center?Competitive paySupportive and collaborative team environmentOpportunity to make a meaningful impact on residents' daily livesStable healthcare setting with opportunities for growth and advancementRewarding career serving seniors in our communityWe are an equal opportunity employer.
