Job summary

Capital One seeks a Senior Risk Manager for Card Risk in a hybrid role at McLean, VA and Richmond, VA. The role leads as the primary 1LoD risk SME for key card initiatives, owning RCSAs and guiding control design, testing, and remediation with business partners.

You will partner with executives to strengthen control environments, defend audits, and ensure risk readiness for new products while adhering to Capital One’s hybrid work policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience required.
• 5+ years in 1LoD Operational Risk, Business Risk, Control Execution, or Internal Audit.
• 2+ years partnering with internal business clients.
• Experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and control transformation.
• CRMA or CRCM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as 1LoD Risk SME for assigned card units and advise on control design.
• Lead and perform Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs); identify gaps and author tests.
• Partner with business leaders on product launches to ensure risk readiness before go-live.
• Evaluate KRIs and process maps to optimize control environments.
• Defend audits/regulatory exams and guide remediation/testing actions.
• Guide issue remediation as gatekeeper for root-cause analysis and fixes.
• Consult on control testing scope and interpret failures for action plans.
