Job summary

Fannie Mae is seeking a Senior Financial Engineer - Capital Markets to develop and enhance data and analytics solutions supporting P&L, capital, and ROE reporting. You will build Python/SQL pipelines, automate validation, and create production-ready analytics with Tableau dashboards.

You will collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Risk, and Technology to translate requirements into scalable designs, improve data quality, and deliver reliable performance for large financial datasets.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience developing data, analytics, automation, or reporting solutions in a finance, risk, or capital markets environment.
• Strong proficiency in SQL with complex joins, aggregations, and large datasets.
• Hands-on Python for data analysis, automation, ETL, validation, or analytical app development.
• Experience developing and supporting Tableau dashboards with data validation and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with software development practices: version control, modular code, documentation, testing, peer review, and controlled releases.
• Interest in applying new technologies, including AI, to reimagine workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python- and SQL-based data pipelines and automated validation routines for large financial datasets.
• Translate reporting needs into technical designs, data models, and reusable solutions with Finance and Technology teams.
• Build and enhance Tableau dashboards and analytical views explaining P&L, ROE, funding cost, and capital metrics.
• Develop production-ready analytical code including data transformations, reconciliations, and scenario analysis.
• Translate complex data findings into clear visualizations and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with data engineers and SMEs to troubleshoot data issues and optimize queries for performance.
• Conduct code reviews, testing, release validation, and production support for internal tools and dashboards.
