Job summary
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas Medical Center seeks a Senior Research Assistant to independently coordinate cancer biology projects using genetically engineered mouse models and tumor implantation studies. This role includes animal husbandry, tissue processing, sequencing prep, and mentoring students and staff.
The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Basic Sciences or an MD and has strong experience in cancer biology, molecular biology, and animal models.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Basic Sciences and a Medical Degree.
- Three years of scientific/experimental research experience or one year with the preferred degree.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct experimental studies; document results.
- Collaborate with PIs on lung and prostate cancer projects using mouse models and therapeutic studies.
- Develop and adopt new techniques to advance research.
- Perform flow cytometry, tissue culture, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, immunoblotting, IHC/ICC.
- Prepare samples for sequencing and NGS workflows; manage animal studies and breeding.
