Job summary

UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Research Assistant I to provide technical support for mouse colony management and molecular biology experiments at the Texas Medical Center. The role emphasizes independent decision-making, safety, and weekend availability for specific experiments.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Science and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills; hands-on experience with mice is required, with PCR and mouse studies preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Science is required.
• Hands-on experience with research animals (mice) is required.
• Exposure to PCR and mouse studies is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain transgenic mouse models as instructed.
• Perform genotyping of toe or tail biopsy samples.
• Conduct animal manipulation techniques including blood collection.
• Perform animal immunization with DNA vaccine using electroporation.
• Administer drug treatments through oral gavage, intraperitoneal, and intravenous injection.
• Assist with animal surgeries including subcutaneous and orthotopic injections.
• Perform biochemical and molecular biology experiments as needed.
