Job summary

NYU Langone Hospitals is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Programmer in the Petljak Lab within the Cancer Genomics & Genetics Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The role focuses on leading computational analyses, developing reproducible pipelines for NGS data, and coordinating with clinical collaborators across cancer genomics projects.

The position is based in NYC with heavy emphasis on HPC workflows, reproducibility, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.Sc. in bioinformatics or related field is required.
• 3+ years of experience with next-generation DNA sequencing data and computational pipelines.
• Experience managing multiple projects and working in HPC/Unix environments.
• Proficiency with Snakemake/Nextflow and version control (Git/GitHub).
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Bioinformatics pipelines: develop, optimize, and maintain robust pipelines for NGS data.
• Computational analyses: implement custom methods for sequencing and multimodal data.
• HPC computing: ensure efficient execution and coordinate with HPC teams.
• Reproducibility & versioning: standardize workflows and document analyses with Git/GitHub.
• Data management: organize, curate, and secure laboratory genomic datasets andMetadata.
• Professional development: stay current with cancer genomics and computational biology advances.
