Job summary

SEIU is seeking a Senior Campaign Communications Specialist - Worker Power in Washington, DC to develop and execute communications plans for organizing, mobilization, bargaining, and campaigns. The role leads local communications staff and drives media outreach, messaging, and narrative strategy across the union’s campaigns.

The position reports to a Communications Program Manager and requires strong writing, media relations, and project management skills with deep knowledge of labor movements

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of work experience in media relations, digital communications or campaign communications.
• Knowledge of labor movement or advocacy organizations a plus.
• Ability to perform proactive media outreach and build journalist relationships.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements communications strategies and calendars for campaigns.
• Writes op-eds, background pieces, fact sheets, and press materials.
• Coordinates communications for local unions and staff on campaigns.
• Monitors media coverage and organizes outreach to reporters and influencers.
• Coordinates event logistics, interviews, and media advisories.
