Job summary

Commonpoint Queens is seeking a Senior Camp Counselor/Assistant Camp Director to support the Camp Director in managing all camp operations, staff supervision, safety, and daily logistics. You will help run engaging, safe, and enriching programs for youth during the summer season.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple groups while maintaining camper safety and program flow.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Extensive experience working with children in camp, school, or youth program setting.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage staff, operations, and camper behavior effectively.
• Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, professional, and able to lead by example.
• Comfortable participating in all camp activities, including outdoor programming and daily swim.
• Ability to oversee multiple groups, ensure safety, and maintain accurate records.
• Must pass background check and complete all required onboarding and compliance trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist Camp Director in overall management and daily camp operations.
• Supervise Unit Heads and staff, providing coaching and feedback.
• Ensure accurate daily attendance and camper accountability across units.
• Monitor staff-to-camper ratios and program schedules.
• Oversee daily activities, including swim, trips, and events.
• Support behavior management and address escalations.
• Serve as point of contact for parent communications and incident follow-up.
• Maintain safety protocols and emergency procedures.
