Job summary

Akima, LLC seeks a Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technologist to transform customer concepts into detailed product definitions for national security projects. Onsite role with collaboration across CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers, and R&D.

You will lead the creation of complex 3D models and drawings, shaping critical systems and components. You will apply advanced CAD tools, perform tolerance analyses, and mentor junior staff to ensure manufacturability and design integrity.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Experience using CAD software for complex 3D solid modeling and drawing generation.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

Create, modify and evaluate detailed 3D models and drawings for complex components and systems.
Lead teams in designing 3D models and detailed drawings, and present designs to clients.
Collaborate with CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers and R&D Mechanical Engineers to integrate requirements.
Analyze product performance data and refine designs for manufacturing feasibility and quality.
Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis to meet product requirements and DFMA principles.
