Job summary

LJA Surveying in Florida is seeking a Sr CAD Technician to provide drafting support for assigned projects across our survey teams. You will work with field crews to process notes, create plats, sketches, and exhibits, and prepare control sheets for horizontal and vertical control.

The role emphasizes CADD proficiency, Trimble Business Center usage, and accurate metes & bounds documentation, with collaboration in a dynamic, employee-owned firm environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience.
• 10–15 years of survey experience.
• CADD experience is required.
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong communication skills both oral and written.
• Ability to work well in a team-focused environment.
• Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Process conventional field notes and digitally collected data, analyze field data, and interact with survey field crews.
• Use survey data for the creation of survey plats, sketches, and exhibits including surveys for builder services (vacant, form board, foundation, and final surveys).
• Create Survey Control Data Sheets, Survey Control Index Sheets, Horizontal & Vertical Control Sheets.
• Compute data points for construction layout.
• Understand technical survey requirements and specifications of the State of Florida standards of practice.
• Write/check Metes & Bounds Descriptions.
